What a terrific set of articles and ephemera!
“A Narrative of the Interesting Origins and (Somewhat) Surprising Developments of African-American Print Culture” is a most appropriate article for our current discussion on history and narrative…the author suggests her narrative of the events of slavery are an attempt to make sense of the data, to build knowledge, rather than merely add information. The broadsheet also provided an interesting and ironic view ("slave market" and "land of the free"!)

I loved your exhibit, especially because you were able to include primary texts such as the broadsides/pamphlets. I want to tell you that I heard some amazing work being done by graduate students at Purdue University in the English Literature, American Studies, and the African American Studies departments. I just came back from the American Studies Symposium hosted at Purdue, and I was amazed and in awe of the wide range of topics, material, and approaches by these students. I will bring you a copy of the program so you can contact them if you want, since I know you are interested in African American Studies and Literature. Also, they have a beautiful and highly productive Black Cultural Center on campus, so if you can check our their site, do so.
