I found the court proceedings interesting also. In the XML they make use of the <interp> tag to cross-reference all of the people mentioned to the document itself. It looks like the document number is the date YYYYMMDD plus a document number and then they number the offense, victim, and the defendant. I wonder if they automated this tagging in some manner as manually tagging and identifying this way would be very time consuming and costly.
