Photograph of the Week: the balloons of 1889’s Paris Exposition

From one of the newest additions to NINES, the Tissandier Collection of photos and prints at the Library of Congress, this image shows the interior of the largest of the buildings constructed for the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris. Balloon aircraft were popular attractions at this event, affording aerial views of the newly constructed Eiffel Tower, among other things.
